Christmas

One Christmas my dad lost his job and my mom was supporting the whole family. (There are six of us 4 kids and our parents.) My mom could not keep up with the bills and our hydro, and electricity got shut off. She could not pay the rent so we had to move out. As we were packing we found things we lost a long time ago. We found things we didn’t want to find. (Decaying food
When we moved out we looked all over town and couldn’t find a single place for rent. We looked in Westbank, Kalona, Peachland, and Glenrosea.

We had to live on the street like hobos. It was one week till Christmas and we had no food, no money, and no home. We couldn’t drive to a family member’s house, because they lived too far away. We couldn’t go to a friend’s house because they all went to their families house.

It is now three days till Christmas and my mom is still working. We have enough money for food because we don’t want to spend our money on gas for the car. We brought our family sized tent, and sleeping bags with us and that’s what we’ve been living in. and luckily we had an outdoor grill, and barbeque

It’s Christmas Eve and we’ve realized Christmas isn’t about where you are or what you get. It’s about who you’re with and what you do that counts. We realized that this was the best Christmas ever.
